Cubbies, designed for children who are in the two years prior to beginning kindergarten, includes awards, Bible memorization, handbooks, and fun activities. Clubbers study basic Bible truths along with popular preschool concepts of colors, shapes, numbers, and letters. The Cubbies material especially lends itself to parental guidance and involvement.
Cubbies who enter the Awana program will start with the Bear Hug Brochure (free) which provides a sample Bear Hug (Cubbies name for a handbook section) and basic information about the Cubbies program.
Cubbies complete the Bear Hug Brochure, proceed to the Hopper or Jumper handbook. Cubbies have optional extra learning through Under the Apple Tree activity in the handbook and Cubbies Character Builder books. Either extra learning activity can be started any time.
Cubbies will have a 20 minute “Game Time.” Games played with Cubbies are age-appropriate, well supervised, and noncompetitive. The games are designed to be exciting, safe, and to build confidence and self esteem.
“Handbook time” for Cubbies lasts approximately 15 minutes. Each Cubbies success in handbook time is totally dependent upon their parent’s involvement in helping each child learn the verses at home and complete the activities in the handbook.
Other activities for Cubbies include a “Story Time & Music Time” (20 minutes) where clubbers have a special time for singing and Bible stories. Each month Cubbies have special “theme nights” just for the fun of it!
