AWANA children't ministry

expectations

To enhance every child’s AWANA experience, we’ve developed the following set of expectations:

  • Clubbers must pass the entrance booklet and turn in the Awana Registration Forms before receiving a uniform or t-shirt.
  • Uniforms and handbooks are to be paid for in full before being awarded to clubbers unless specific arrangements have been made with the Awana Commander.
  • Clubbers are to sit as a group with their handbook leader during council time.
  • Bathroom privileges and drinks are provided at designated transition times only, so please make sure your child takes care of these before meeting time.
  • Food and drinks are for refreshment time only.
  • Please, no chewing gum.
  • Clubbers are to walk to and from game time. Due to safety concerns, please do not run, except during game time.
  • All clubbers are expected to take part in the entire club program, unless there’s a note from parents.
  • To pass a section no more than two helps are allowed. A help is defined as "a one- to three-word hint", depending on age level.
  • Clubbers are to be picked up at their rooms at 8:15 p.m. sharp. After 8:30 p.m., clubbers will likely be found with the Commander in the church foyer or in the nursery area.
  • A call will be used to quiet the entire group of clubbers. When a leader says the specific call word, all clubbers and other leaders are to respond with a designated word, be still and quiet, and direct their attention to the leader.
  • Discipline is encouraged through positive reinforcement, with rewards and points given for good behavior. However, for clubbers who do not cooperate, a "3-Strike System" is administered to individual clubbers for unacceptable behavior. For an older clubber whose 3rd offense necessitates a 3rd strike, parents will be called to immediately pick up the child, and a conference with the parents will be scheduled. Of course, the clubber is welcome back when he or she is willing to meet the club expectations.
