Calvary 4-Wheelers

Annual Meeting: Bill's Remarks

2007 has seen our group continue to mushroom with growth.
We have grown in numbers, of course,
but we have also seen significant growth in skills,
relationships,
and, most importantly, our spiritual walk.
I am very encourage by the way our group has expanded our service to others this past year,
not only in the ways we have helped each other
and continued to help those in need on the trail,
but also in sponsoring and supporting our valet parking service,
and spearheading a mission trip to New Orleans.
On top of that most of us are involved in some significant ministry whether it be ushering,
singing on the Praise Team,
leading AWANA,
or helping with the Food Pantry.
If you aren’t plugged in to a ministry outside of the 4-Wheelers, I strongly encourage you to do so.

Diversity continues to be a strength of our group,

both in our rigs
and in our people.
We have everything from casual ‘wheelers in stock SUVs
to hard-core enthusiasts in highly modified trail rigs.
Our people range from cute kids
to surrogate
(and, in some cases, actual) grandparents.
The past few years have seen the emergence of our “next generation” of Calvary 4-Wheelers.
I am very proud of these fine young men
and women
as they prepare to leave our nests
and become the 4-Wheelers
of tomorrow.
As we move ahead into 2008 I think it is important that we get our signals straight
and make sure we’re headed in the right direction.
We have put together an ambitious schedule
designed to carefully balance the various need of our diverse group.
We have a lot more choices and opportunities built into this schedule from expanding our Sunday Drive series,
to more challenge trips,
and more camping.
With this heavy of a schedule, I won’t be able to lead every trip.
We will need more trail leaders to step forward and take their place at the front of the pack.
I also want to see our spin-off groups continue to grow and mature
and our service outside 4-wheeling expand.
Most importantly, though, let’s not forget what got us here
and remember our roots as we expand.
Our ministry must continue to be based on building significant relationships around our shared hobby
and meeting God in His beautiful creation.
So, as we forge ahead into 2008,
let’s put our best foot (er... wheel) forward.
We have a bright road ahead of us,
if we keep working together.
