Calvary 4-Wheelers

Trip Report:

Camp Dick July 13 to 15, 2007

by Bill Andrews

Calvary 4-Wheelers had a great time at Camp Dick over the weekend of July 13-15, filling 7 camp sites and putting 10 rigs on the trail. We set up camp Friday night, traversed the Middle St. Vrain and Coney Creek trails on Saturday and worshiped together before heading home Sunday.

My jeep made it back on the trail after a frustrating Spring and Summer of break downs and fixes. There are still issues to address but it pulled the camper and made it through the trail, that's the important thing. David drove his "new" Cherokee which he has dubbed "Steve" (the six-million dollar Jeep). Everyone else was in their usual rigs.

The trail was rough in the usual spots but, overall, a little easier than last year. Missy dragged, bounced and flew her stock Suzuki Sidekick through the hard parts and some delicate adjustments with a hammer to the rocker panels got her doors to open again. Other than that, we had no trouble and made good time actually getting all the way to the water crossing at the top by lunch. Of course, as soon as we stopped for lunch it started raining.

We finished lunch as the rain let up and prepared for the stream crossing. The creek was a little deeper this year but everyone made it through without trouble. Missy went through before we had cameras ready so we made her go back and do it again so we could get pictures. It was fun to watch her bob along with the water half way up her headlights, made for some great shots. The scenery was as beautiful as ever and also made for some great shots.

In addition to the 'wheeling we enjoyed some great campfire time, a birthday party for James and his daughter Krista and a wonderful time of worship with "guest speaker" Al Pence, a former Wycliffe missionary and currently director of China Chat (as well as being Wendy Marcy's father).
